Ukraine has announced the start of mass production for an innovative locally engineered defensive UAV to enhance its aerial protection systems. Three initial producers have begun manufacturing, with 11 more getting ready to establish production lines, Ukrainian military officials stated this past Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Proven in Battlefield Conditions

The drones will be based on a domestically developed system called “Octopus” designed to neutralize Shahed drones. This technology has been tested in actual battle and demonstrated successful “during nighttime, amid electronic warfare and flying low,” officials stated. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set an ambitious goal of producing up to 1,000 interceptors each day.

Latest Assault on the Capital Characterized as Deliberate

Volodymyr Zelenskyy characterized Russia’s latest attack against Ukraine as “deliberate, premeditated and brutal” after six people were killed and many others wounded in a wave of night-time strikes throughout Kyiv. Alert systems activated in the capital just after 12 AM on Friday, with enemy UAVs soon heard overhead and intensive defensive fire from Ukraine's aerial protection units.

Russia’s Black Sea port of the port city temporarily suspended crude shipments this past Friday – representing 2% of global supply – following a strike by Ukrainian forces. Ukraine’s general staff said its forces had launched Neptune cruise missiles and used multiple kinds of strike drones in the assault against Novorossiysk “within the framework of operations to reduce the strategic capabilities of the Russian aggressor.”

Ukrainian forces separately targeted a processing plant in the Saratov area and an energy depot in the adjacent Engels region during the night.

The number two energy company Lukoil said on Friday it is negotiating with potential buyers regarding its international holdings following last month’s sanctions from the UK and the US and failure of a deal with the Gunvor trading house. “Final arrangements will be announced once the final agreements are completed and required authorizations are secured,” Lukoil stated.

Ukrainian President Schedules Diplomatic Trip to Spain

Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to travel to the Spanish capital, the Spanish capital, next Tuesday to meet with parliament members a day after his trip to France, the chamber of deputies disclosed. Zelenskyy will convene with deputies from both chambers of the legislature throughout his stay, the Spanish statement confirmed.
