Learning From Earlier Errors
This title arrives after the back of the sci-fi the last installment, released four years ago to a unfavorable reception it had difficulty to overcome.
"It's likely that we couldn't make and develop the latest entry lacking the lessons we gained in the previous title," Rebecka shares with the press.
One of those insights was to involve players participating early, and the studio started invite-only player trials in recent months.
Their "reaction was incredibly favorable," comments Rebecka.
Another absent ingredient from the previous installment was a solo experience, which has been reintroduced this time around.
Criterion design director Fas Salim is the person responsible for "making sure those levels are as enjoyable and interesting as possible for the gamers."
Regardless of claims that the scale of the title had challenged the different teams working together across continents to build the game, the director is optimistic about the work.
"Partnering with different perspectives, different experiences, it's a truly engaging setting to be part of daily," he shares.
"This entire strategy has been something new but something truly thrilling because we are working with people from around the globe."
Regarding the anticipation on the team, he says: "We feel pressure but additionally it's exciting.
"It's a large undertaking. It's arguably the largest that most of us have ever worked on."
Emerging Talent Brings Fresh Insight
That's absolutely correct of at least an individual developer, VFX specialist Vlad Kokhan.
