Soccer Analyst Sutton Takes On Singer Murs in Top Flight Forecasts
Arsenal's 10-game winning run came to an end by the Black Cats before the international hiatus, however can the English top division frontrunners bounce back against local foes Tottenham this Sunday?
"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," stated soccer specialist Chris Sutton.
"The Spurs manager will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still manage to win."
The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this term, against AI, readers and a variety of guests.
For week 12, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a United supporter.
The singer's latest album, the new release, is out on the weekend.
Football and Parenting Life
Murs is a skilled soccer player as well as a successful singer and has been a featured player of multiple charity football matches down the years - but he is not intending a professional comeback as a footballer.
"{I recently played in a benefit match the other evening for a mate of mine," he explained. "The side was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!
"I still love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too risky for me in my career to do it seriously again.
"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my child or son chooses to play instead."
The singer and his spouse his partner have two children, their daughter and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their manager.
"I won't force football on our children but I've previously told Amelia that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be managing their weekend football team," he said.
"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly was involved with a football club for a while too.
"My father did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I inherited it. He managed our side for several seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Top Division Predictions
Saturday, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues may have to be patient for their star's return from fitness issues but their attack is now stronger with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.
I still think this game will be fairly close, though. The Clarets are well organised and their sole home losses so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.
It suggests a one-all draw to me, but I am actually going to go with Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.
The expert's forecast: 1-2
Olly's prediction: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3
AI's prediction: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have been defeated in their previous couple games - albeit both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.
On the other hand, West Ham won back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they appear strong again.
West Ham's sole away win this season came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when their manager Nuno was previously Forest manager.
So, what exactly do I go with here - can West Ham extending their run under their manager, or the home side bouncing back?
I am going to choose Bournemouth, because I think what occurred against Aston Villa was a blip.
The pundit's prediction: 2-0
Olly's outlook: The home team are doing well but the visitors have picked up under their boss. 2-2
The algorithm's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were seen as one of the frontrunners for the drop before the campaign began, but they have impressed a several people under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three in their last four games.
A family member advised me to get Brentford forward Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.
Thiago will probably find the net again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or back the away side at Amex Stadium.
The Bees have not had great fortune on the travel this term, and the Seagulls are consistently strong at their stadium. The visitors will attempt to hit them on the counter-attack but I think the home manager's side pose much more of a danger.
The analyst's prediction: 2-1
The singer's prediction: It could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a many goals but it in reality turns out to be quite tight. 1-1
AI's prediction: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a huge fixture for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six games.
They have have plenty of talent in their squad but it still seems like they could be sucked into a drop zone battle.
As for Sunderland, well they are the unexpected success of the Premier League campaign so far.
Their performance in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last time out was superb. We have not seen any other team disrupt the North London side like that this season, and they were fully competitive for them.
The sensible thing to do to support the Black Cats here, because they are clearly able of roughing the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they beat Chelsea at the end of last month.
However I am not going to do that. Instead, I truly need to continue going against the away team with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their good results because they clearly enjoy to defy my predictions.
Looking at Fulham's at Craven Cottage form, the sole team they have lost to is Arsenal. Their manager's team will be extremely desperate for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will pick up three much-needed points.
Sutton's prediction: 1-0
The guest's choice: I know the visitors are performing strongly and additionally that the hosts are on a poor streak... but Fulham have still been decent at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0
The algorithm's outlook: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a hard fixture to predict. The Reds have suffered seven of their past 10 matches in every tournament, but could they be among the teams who benefit from the {international break|
