Performer Denies Anti-Vaccine Position Following Lending His Voice To Contentious Coronavirus Film
The "Taken" star has given his narration to a feature-length documentary that questions the legitimacy of vaccinations and praises one-time government figure Robert F Kennedy Jr.
The Documentary's Disputed Foundation
Titled "Plague of Corruption," the film is inspired by a popular book written by Judy Mikovits, who rose to infamy during the global outbreak for claims that the illness was caused by a bad strain of the seasonal immunization.
The publication's collaborator, Kent Heckenlively, has also written books with controversial media personality Alex Jones. The producer took to social media celebrating Neeson's role in the film.
A Firm Denial
A spokesperson for Neeson have issued a response firmly refuting suggestions that he subscribes to anti-immunization beliefs.
"Everyone can acknowledge that corruption might be present within the medical sector, but that should never be confused with opposition to vaccines," the comment states. "He has never been, and is not, anti-vaccination. His considerable work with Unicef highlights his enduring support for global immunisation initiatives."
The statement added that the star had no hand in the film's messaging and that inquiries about its content should be directed to the producers.
Key Claims Within the Feature
As presented, the script spoken by Neeson includes several controversial statements:
- It suggests that pro-immunization voices have called for "complete compliance" to health authorities.
- It declares that "research has become deeply politicized."
- Robert F Kennedy Jr is featured stating, "The major issue with vaccines is that they just aren't adequately tested."
- The film also criticizes pandemic restrictions, claiming they caused psychological harm that led to the loss of thousands of lives.
- Concerning the immunizations, it mentions a perspective that they were "developed too quickly" and seen as "risky trials."
Previous Controversy and Current Debates
The film also references a 2004 BBC documentary about HIV drug testing on children, which was subsequently the focus of a formal apology by the broadcaster for violations of guidelines.
In recent weeks, RFK Jr called on the national health agency to revise its long-held position that there is no link between vaccines and autism. This claim is also referenced in the documentary, despite a new report from the WHO reiterating no evidence has been found.
An Earlier Record of Endorsement
Differing from the documentary's message, Neeson has formerly expressed clear advocacy for vaccines in his capacity as a charity ambassador.
Two years ago, he described vaccines as "an incredible triumph," stating that "The discourse about vaccines in lately has forgotten how much good they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in human history."
"Plague of Corruption" finishes with Neeson's voice saying, "This is not the finish of our narrative. This is the beginning of a new chapter."
