'Our Mission Consists of Only Eliminating' - The Way The Sudanese Brutal Militia Perpetrated a Massacre
Alert: This Account Contains Disturbing Descriptions of Killings.
Militiamen smirk as they travel on the bed of a utility vehicle, hurrying alongside a series of multiple lifeless forms and heading in the direction of the descending African sun.
"Look at such effort. Observe this mass destruction," a fighter cheers.
The fighter beams as he directs the video equipment on his own face and his companion militiamen, their paramilitary insignia on display: "These people will all perish like this."
The men are exulting in a mass killing that aid workers believe resulted in the deaths of over two thousand individuals in the African urban center of el-Fasher during October.
A Community Isolated from the World
Having held the community under encirclement for approximately 24 months, from the summer the paramilitary force advanced to strengthen its dominance and prevent access for the surviving civilian population.
Satellite images show that troops began to erect a enormous sand wall - a built-up earthen wall - around the edges of the city, closing access routes and halting relief supplies.
As the siege worsened, 78 civilians were murdered in an RSF assault on a mosque on September 19th, while the United Nations said fifty-three further were murdered in aerial and cannon strikes on a makeshift community in fall.
Explicit Video Reveals Weaponless Civilians Executed
At dawn on October 26th the RSF overwhelmed the remaining government positions and took control of the primary headquarters in the urban area, the command center of the Military Unit, as the army retreated.
Perhaps the most graphic videos to emerge and studied depicted the aftermath of a mass killing at a campus structure on the west of the community, where scores corpses were seen strewn over the area.
A senior individual clad in a traditional garment was seated alone surrounded by the victims. He turned to look as a fighter carrying with a rifle walked along the staircase in the direction of the individual. pointing his firearm, the shooter fired a solitary shot at the victim, who collapsed to the floor still.
"Why is this individual still living," one combatant exclaimed. "Shoot this one."
Orbital photography taken on October 26th seemed to confirm that killings were also conducted on the thoroughfares of al-Fashir, based on a report released by the university analysis team.
An eyewitness who communicated stated they had observed "numerous of our family members being massacred - the victims were gathered in a specific area and each one killed."
Militia Commanders Try to Conduct Public Relations
Following the events that came after the atrocity, militia chief admitted that his troops had carried out "atrocities" and said the incidents would be investigated.
Part of the detained was following a report documenting his murders. Meticulously choreographed and produced footage published on the militia's official messaging channel reveal him being taken into a detention area at a prison on the edges of al-Fashir.
Meanwhile, the militia and associated digital profiles commenced attempting to reshape the story.
Updates depicting its militiamen distributing supplies to civilians were circulated by several users, while the militia's communications team shared several clips purporting to demonstrate the humane management of military prisoners of war.
Regardless of the digital initiative being employed by the paramilitary, their activities in the city have provoked international condemnation.
