Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the title advantage from his teammate by just one point after taking the win in Mexico City recently, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, trailing with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, was classified in P17 as his team followed a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to have an incident, though minor, when he rotated at corner four soon after starting.
The Japanese spun out over the curbs on exit before rotating through the run-off area, and was blessed to avoid just a minor contact of the fence.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the very end of the practice, spinning around through the high-speed Mergulho turn before the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
The seven-time champion wrapped up in 19th place, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber in third, 0.619secs slower than Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
