Iran Claims Strike on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Military Operations.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any destruction is unclear and the American officials has remained silent.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - which all house American military installations - stated they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck areas associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and shot down a series of missiles," it added.
It said missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
