Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Retains Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's expected for questions to be asked about his position following a further convincing defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in twelve games, representing the club's poorest streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got plenty of support from above,” Slot remarked.

“It's important to turn it around and earn three points naturally but if you are working as a coach and underperforming then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I am OK with my role. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Discussions with The Board

Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me every single minute each day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard conversations we have I feel the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat so far so we'll see.”

Familiar Problems and Player Reaction

The manager expressed regret over known shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their European loss, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones stated.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I’m past being angry inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a phase such as this with outcomes this poor.”

He finished, “But we still have the crest on our shirts. And as long as that badge is gone, we'll continue to fight.”

“We’re going to try to get this team return to its rightful place, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and why it's known as the best team in the planet.”

“But right now, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
